Mecalux Alternative in Portugal: What to Compare Before You Choose a Racking Supplier

If you are searching for a Mecalux alternative in Portugal, you are probably not looking for the cheapest rack, you are looking for the right supplier. Racking sits in your building for 15 to 25 years, so the company behind it matters as much as the steel.

Start with the standards, not the brochure

Every supplier will say their racking is safe. Ask which standards it is designed and certified to. At minimum, look for EN 15512 (design of steel pallet racking), CE marking, and a quality system such as ISO 9001. Rackit racking is designed to the European standards (EN 15512, EN 15635 and EN 16681), see our certifications.

Compare the warranty in writing

A warranty is only as good as its terms. Ask what is covered (structure, coating, accessories), for how long, and what voids it. Our 10-year warranty guide explains what to look for. Rackit backs all its racking with a 10-year warranty.

Ask who installs it

Many suppliers sell the product and leave installation to a third party. Check whether installation is done by trained crews, whether the installer signs off the finished work, and who you call if a beam is damaged six months later.

Check spare parts and after-sales

Racking is modular, so you will add bays and replace damaged parts for years. Confirm that components stay available and compatible, and who answers the phone in Portugal.

Look at the whole project, not one price line

A low quote that leaves out installation, floor anchoring, safety accessories or inspection can end up costing more. Ask for a quote that lists everything, then compare like with like.

Is a cheaper alternative always worse?

No. But a price gap should be explainable by a real difference in scope, steel, coating or warranty. If it cannot be explained, keep asking.

Can I mix suppliers in the same warehouse?

Components from different manufacturers are generally not interchangeable, and mixing them can affect load ratings. Ask your supplier before extending an existing system.
