Buying industrial racking is a long-term decision. Use these ten questions to compare suppliers on facts rather than promises, and keep the answers in writing.
About the product
- Which standards is the racking designed to? Look for EN 15512 and CE marking, not just “tested”.
- What is the quality and environmental certification of the factory? ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are the baseline.
- What are the rated loads per beam level and per bay? They must appear on a load plate fixed to the rack.
- What coating protects the steel? Galvanized and powder-coated finishes behave very differently in humid or cold stores.
About the project
- Who designs the layout, and is the calculation included?
- Who installs it, and who signs off the finished work?
- What is included in the quote? Anchoring, safety accessories, guards and delivery should be listed.
About life after installation
- What does the warranty cover, for how long, and what voids it? See our warranty guide.
- Who carries out the yearly expert inspection? EN 15635 expects one, so ask whether the supplier offers it.
- Can I extend or reconfigure the system later, and are parts kept in stock?
Which question matters most?
Standards and installation. Racking that is badly designed or badly installed cannot be fixed with a good warranty after the fact.
Should I get more than one quote?
Yes, at least two, with the same scope, so you can compare like with like.
